Atomic’s hugely popular European Ski of The Year, the Metron is back for the 2005-06 season.

So successful was the introduction of the range last year two models sold out globally before Christmas 2004.

“The introduction of the Metron ski was a huge success for Atomic,” said Atomic’s Jason Summerfield. “It won  the European Ski of the Year Award and the fact that two models sold out globally in such a short period of time showed that there was a huge demand in the market for a ski that skiers could take anywhere on the mountain”

Atomic is one of the leading Alpine Ski brands in 2005 Atomic’s men led by overall World Cup winner Bode Miller and Downhill World Champion Michael Walchoffer won every individual discipline on the World Cup tour and 14 out of 15 medals on offer at the 2005 World Championships in Bormio while female skier Michaela Dorfmeister, won the Super-G crystal globe on the World Cup.

The Metron range gives skiers unrivalled performance across the entire mountain terrain - without ever having to change to another size or shape of ski.

This is achieved by the ski featuring an ultra-wide shovel and tail and the innovation has been made possible by the addition of exclusive technologies such as Beta-5 and Beta Puls, which guarantees the performance of the ski is optimally tuned to the demands placed on it. The four independent pulsers, embedded in isozorb elastomer, channel power from the chassis directly to the tip and tail for quick handling, torsional rigidity, exceptional edge hold and a smooth effortless ride.

The improvements this year have seen a reduction in weight of the ski by replacing heavier components with lighter more reliable materials.  The new Neox binding that comes with the ski now weighs 500g less than last year.

Metron skis are sized differently, but it is easy to find the correct ski.  The M2 Index, determines the ski model best suited to the individual skier based on the surface contact area, rather than simply the height of the skis. It also takes account of the weight, skiing ability and types of turns envisaged by the individual skier.

There are six versions of Atomic skis within the Metron range:

The Metron:B5 the natural shape of the Metron lets the skier carve beautiful, round turns in any snow type from boilerplate, to crud to powder.  The Beta 5 technology spreads energy and pressure over the entire effective edge for buttery-smooth high-speed handling, while the active power extensions devour the rough terrain giving unparalleled edge control

The wider shovel and tail on the Metron:B5 means that the ski can be shorter yet still have the same  surface area of a traditional ski which gives the skier higher manoeuvrability.

Available in 152, 162, and 172 lengths, the Metron:B5 comes in sunburst and gold with a RRP, dependant upon binding, ranging from £589.95 to £599.95.

The M:EX PULS-ti is the most freeride model in the range.  New to the range for this season it has the largest overall surface area, which when combined with the BetaPuls titanium allows the skier to rip high octane powered turns through any snow type.  Think total all mountain freedom.

The M:EX PULS-ti  is available in 165, 175, 185 lengths and comes in red and gold with a RRP, dependant upon binding, ranging from £549.95 to £569.95.

It is available in 3 lengths 150, 157, 164, 171 and 178 and comes in anthracite and gold with a RRP dependent on binding, ranging from £419.95 to £439.95

The M:9 PULS ski is the lightest Metron model equipped with a new Beta puls that transfers more power while still smoothing out the vibrations and automatic turn initiation. As with all skis in this range, the M:9 is equally at home no matter what slope or conditions you choose.

The M:9 PULS ski, available in 150, 157, 164, 171, and 178 lengths in colours orca blue or red has a RRP, dependant upon binding, ranges from £339.95 to £349.95.
