The Dynastar Contact XT 10 is one ski that simply "loves to carve". The new XT 10 is a stellar performer that will return finesse and subtle input with very impressive arcs and smooooth transitions into the next turn, regardless of the radius.
Model: Dynastar Contact XT 10 Size(cm) / Radius(m): 156/13 165/15 172/17 179/19 Sidecut : 109-71-100 Manufacturer's Description: "For excellent technical on-trail skiers who demand the highest levels of carving precision with versatility for a variety of terrain. Ultimate versatile carved turning, excellent ski, Autodrive Rebound System Titanal plate, Snow contact on all types of terrain, Autodrive Technology, oversized sidewalls, Precision and superior edge grip on hardpack trails, extra wide tip for rapid turn initiation. Performs anywhere." Ski-Review's verdict: A spectacular replacement for the Omecarve series which was truly one of the great carvers for the past 2 years. The Dynastar Contact XT 10 with its slightly wider (71mm) waist, encourages precise carves, while allowing the skier to choose the size of the arc, and it would be very hard to find a ski that holds better on ice. The XT10s react to every move but don't require and bullish effort (for the technically abundant minds, they discourage gross movements) My 200 lbs was happiest on the 172cm. (Sometimes its still seems hard to admit to enjoying short skis). DO NOT BUY THEM LONG! Here are some quotes from some of our testers - This ski is as much fun as the Atomic SX11, but the shovel of the ST10 (being a tad stiffer) will hold a more constant arc with little or no effort. - Love this ski for PURE carving and ripping some trenches in the snow. - Awesome edge grip! Awesome carves! Even better than I expected.

I demoed these last weekend at Mt. Ashland courtesy of the Rogue Ski Shop and didn't want to give them back. I'm 180lbs 6' and tried the 172's. At first I wasn't impressed. It wasn't until I really started pushing them in the crud and bumps that a big grin got stuck on my face. The rebound on these are so much fun! I was bouncing like a bunny with little effort. Tails release easily. Crud doesn't push these boards around, I was able to blast and carve through stuff that would knock my Atomic C8's around (I know it's not a fair comparison, but at least I discovered I could handle and have more fun on a higher performance ski) They feel better the harder you ski them. The price was $699 w/ bindings. | |
