Love the 8800

Great combination of back-side performance and front-side capability. I'm 5'10", 180 lbs. I skied the 8800 in size 178 for 4 days of powder in the back bowls, but packed powder and hard pack down on the front-side. Not atypical conditions for the Rockies... On the back side, the 8800's were great! Stiff and stable enough to push through cut-up snow and crud, and enough float to let you cruise through the un-tracked. On the front side, you can get them up on edge and carve nice medium to long turns. They even hold a bit of edge on hard pack. I found them to be quite steer-able, so they were also great in trees and soft moguls. For hard-pack/ice moguls though, ouch.

Love it, Bought it last year

Pretty much in total agreement with the above. I'm 5'9" and 175. I was dying to try out the volkl AC4, I think it was, but didn't have my size and went with this...this was in Vail last February, I ended up buying the pair, 168s. As for hard pack, ice moguls, when do they not hurt... ;-)
