This ski is dialed in for the park with edge reinforcement and double wall construction. Very light and quick ski. Can't go wrong with this if you ski a lot of park Salomon Teneighty Foil gear review by “xcjamie” |

1080 Foil Written by Ski Review Guest on 2006-12-13 12:51:58
I bought the Foil last year. I am 5'10" 175lbs I went with the 182 (MONEY!!!). I put over 50 days on them last year alone up in Utah's primo resorts. There is not a section of the mountains I didn't ski. They gracefully handled anything I threw at them from opening day till the last mountain shut it's door on me. If nothing has changed except the new wonder bread packaging I'd say your not making a mistake. If size is your concern if you ski hard which you all should don' t be scared to go big. |

I demo'd 8 set of skis at Whistler, including the B3 Bandits, and Salomon Guns. The 1080 Foils are hands down the best all mountain ski. |

Very nice ski - great fun. Hired a pair for a week - and just bought the 2006 model. Good and bouncy over powder - keeps up with boarders! You can check your size on Salomon website. |

Best all-around ski I've skied. Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-03-11 04:26:02
I'm 6'0" and 155 lbs. I'm an expert that relies more on finesse than power. I bought '06 Foils (174 cm) as my all around ski last year. I don't ski much switch or much in the park & pipe. But I chose the Foil because I demo'd it and it blew away everything else I was testing for an all-around ski. And if I did chose to ski switch or in the park, it can handle it like a champ unlike most others in the all-mountain category. I don't know if they changed much for '07, but I don't see how they could have made it any better than it already is. It carves like crazy on-piste and eats it up off-piste. It's awesome in the bumps. It likes crud and pow too. It does get a little chattery at high speed, but I have Atomic race skis for that. It also loses some grip in steep icy chutes due to the twin tips (as all twin tips do). It only has 85mm under foot, so for doing drops into deep powder you might want a true pow ski. Bottom line is it's the best all-around ski I've skied. It isn't a race ski or a true powder ski. But it wasn't designed to be. It's a park & pipe ski that blows away most other skis in the all-mountain category. If you can only afford one ski for your 1-ski quiver, this is it!That's as long as you aren't a heavyweight or super powerful. New-schoolers and old-schoolers will love it.

Foil vs Troublemakers??? Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-03-16 16:45:02

Durabilty Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-04-10 05:50:18
I hear from varied sources that these skis are great fun to ski on in and out of the park. I don't doubt that they are fun to ski, but I also repeatedly hear about these skis having issues with their core. Because it's a foam core and not pure wood, they're known to lose their flex pattern after 1-2 seasons. Can anyone who owns the 06 ie 07 model comment on their durability? |
No problems. Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-04-10 18:59:59
I have '05/'06's. I have had no problems with them and the flex seems to be the same as when I purchased them. I skied them about 25 days last year and 20 days this year. When I was in Utah, one of the big rental shops used them as their primary rental. They had hundreds of them. I asked them why they chose the Foil and they told me it was the best ski they knew of. Anyone from a beginner to pro could ski them and be happy. They could also handle all conditions well. It was the best all-around ski they knew of. I asked them about durability and they said they had no issues whatsoever. They loved them and so did their clients. |

What size? Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-06-25 04:10:10
I'm an all mountain advanced skier. I ski agressivly. I spend most of my time in powder, and crud. I'm 5' 7" and weigh 150 lb. Do you think the 174s would be too big for me to handle? (By the way, I'm only 14 and will be growing) Thanks for any advise! |
Wonder Ski Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-09-03 06:34:58
These are a great ride and I highly recomend them for anyone new to the "shaped" ski revolution (yes I know it's going on 7 years now...) For us that were "behind the times" these are the answer to every slope in the park. If you're looking for just a little more aggressive ski with all the same perks as the Foil take a look at the Teneighty Thruster! Awesome!!! |
Foil > Thruster Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-09-10 02:06:26
The Thruster is actually a step back from the Foil. They're narrower and more lightweight than the Foil is. |

what size Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-10-26 03:38:39
Yo, I really need help. I can get either the 166 or 174 size. I'm about 5'8", weigh 150-155. I'm an advanced skier. I mainly ski powder and trees. I think that I should really be buying a 170 ski. 166 is going to be too short, and I think 174 is going to be a bit to long. PLEASE HELP ME! |
seem good Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-11-18 04:26:50
I just got Salomon Foils 166 w/salomon Z12 bindings. They look sweet. Havn't gotten to ski on them yet. Just took them to get mounted to my boots today. I'm 5'9" 155 Lb. Type 3 skiier. I hope they can handle me. AND TARGHEE HAS 40" OF SNOW!!!!!! I'm still not going to take them up until mid December or until theres a pow day. |
second the size question Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-11-21 00:46:04
i live in northern michign, ski alot of hard pack groomed snow, plan to spend a couple weeks in Crested Butte off and on through winter. i weigh 157 and am 5'9, looking at the 174cm, will this size agree with me from solid groomers primarily to occasional powder, or should i look to next size down? want a fun playful all around ski that can spin off the drops. have a k2 silencer 169 dedicated to the park and hill when i'm gitty thanks, need to decide quick |
RE: size question Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-11-21 02:04:46
I'm the writer of the size question 2 above. I just decided to get the 166's. I'd rather be able to turn them for sure than have to fight them to get them to turn in and out of trees. On groomers, the 174s I htink would be fine. They would probably get a little hard to turn in pow. I went with the 166's cuz I'm mainly going to ski pow and trees. |
Salomon Foils or K2 Public Enemy Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-11-26 21:54:57

These flippin rock! Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-12-03 03:25:25
Ski on the 166 Foil with Z12 bindings. 155 lbs and 5'9. They were awesome. In 16 inches of powder/chop/powder moguls they were frickin awesome. Also took groomed. They did chatter a lot at high speeds on groomed. Unfortunitly there was only 66 inches of snow and now I have one major core shot. I'm amazed I didn't blow out the edge. Took a turn onto a rock around 30 mph. The gash is deepest right next to the edge and it looks like the rock popped out when it hit the edge. But anyways, thats the only damage I did to them. I have them mounted at a +3 (they came like that, I'm not planning on skiing park.) My only complaint is that I'm not used to having so much tail behind me. All in all, a good all-mountain ski. They have a slight preferance to powder and have really durable edges. Survived early season off-trail and some cliffs. Amazing! |
strap in for a ride! Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-12-07 13:33:21
Picked up the 07 Foil (182cm / still short! id like a 190cm) (190lbs 6'2) and put some new 08 Z12 bindings on them. WOW they are so light! Mounted them +1inch from the -2cm center mark, and I was scared this might affect powder performance - these just floated to the the top of a good 40"+ powder dry storm dump, completely unreal. I love how it feels and responds teaching me all the time. Looks really good on the snow too cant really go wrong here. Worth every penny! |

size Written by Ski Review Guest on 2008-04-05 04:02:00
im 1.76 and about 75 kilos during ski season. and i have the 174cm with look px12 bindings mounted 2cm back from true centre. i find this to be a good size maybe a bit bigger would have been better but oh well. if you ski alot of powder i suggest mounting them further back from centre, it will be easier! |
