Great Off-Piste!

My background is alpine for 35 years with about 6 of those years as a certified instructor. 14 years have been with an emphasis in telemarking in the backcountry. Had a chance to try these skis on a trip to Snowbird, UT and they were fantastic! In deep, light snow as well as snow that has had a chance to set up they delivered. Their heavy weight made turning effortless when brought up to speed and when a snow covered object was encountered resulting in an acute change of direction, they were easily redirected back into the fall line. Did not get a chance to make enough turns on the groomed runs to give an accurate evaluation.

B3

A slightly more versatile and fun ski than the B-Squad. It is a very stable ski and can hold its own everywhere but the park. It's one of the most versatile big mountain skis out there this year.

Not my cup of tea

I demo'd these yesterday following 9" of new, fresh but heavy powder. On piste became off piste really quickly as the snow was knee deep in more than a few places. In those conditions, I found the B3 a very slow reacting ski and it felt almost like the ski was skiing me rather than the other way around. When it did catch an edge, the feedback was so minimal that I would oversteer every time.

In the heavy Cascade oatmeal, this was definitely not a fun ski. I had more fun switching back to my old Salomon X-Scream 9s for the rest of the day, unfortunately.

Slow all-mountain.

I demo'd these today, 184cm, at Kirkwood in 40 degree, 3 day old snow - a combination of wet snow in the sun and firm crud in the trees. I also rode the Mantra 184, Scott Mission 183, and the Mantra 191.

These skis were unstable compared the the others listed above. Not that great in the soft, not that great in the crud. High speed groomers had these wiggling around like a noodle. If want to feel like you are going really fast, buy this ski. If you really want to ski fast, demo the Mantra before buying this ski.

Are talking B3 or B4??

I'm confused what to do here. It says B3, but the B4 is pictured. The B3 is Orange & White.

the b3 is orange

and is a wuss board. Easily overpowered and unstable above 30mph. Even in east coast "powder" conditions ski balked at straightlining cut badly up junk. Rossi missed badly with this effort.

I always thought the B3 was for powder?

i'm reading these reviews and can't believe anyone would even try such a fat ski in some of the conditions listed. I demoed the B3 at Snowbird a couple yrs ago during a complete whiteout at the top of the tram. got half way down and you could actually see. This was in January so it was cold and the powder was light and fluffy. These skis just floated effortlessly down runs. turns were calm and easy (down blacks). Would use a B2 in some of the spring conditions listed above, another great ski...

A Great Ski!

Yes, I actually own these. Bought them on closeout last year. Now after many skiing days I can say they are great all-around skiis. Great on power and good on the moguls too. very stable. No learning curve either. I just put them on and they felt great.

What a great ski

I was lucky enough to hire a pair of Bandith B 3 skis in La Thuile this year.We had fresh snow apprx 15cm and they were just out of his world and now i want to sell my head xrc and by a pair of bandits.I f you have not tried the you do not know what you are missing. The take approx an hour to get used to but then you can carve or go off piste and thy are just great.

Fantastic Ski

I brought these skis just the other day and have had one days skiing on them. I found them fantastic. They were fast, the edges seemed to cut into the ice well, they glided over soft, deep powder, I found an immediate improvement in my skiing on these skis. I ski mostly of trail and had a great time on them. I did find through the rough moguls there was a bit of feed back if skiing straight into them and, I wasn't use to the way they reacted over jumps caused a few falls until I got use to them. I also got told of once for skiing to fast past the chair lift, I loved the high speed achieved on them

Marginal Ski

I've own a pair of the 2005-2006 version of this ski. I'm 5'8, 160# and the 176 does not feel stable at high speeds as other folks have mentioned above. In soft, not to heavy powder this ski does fine, but in those conditions why not just use a fatter ski and get a lot better flotation? On the groomers, crud, heavy powder, etc I found this ski to simply be ok and not really excel at anything. Overall, there are much better all mountain skis out there like the Dynastar Legend Mythic Rider. The b3's are my official beginning of the year rock ski now.
