Sidecut: 116-79-104

Manufacturer's Description of the Fischer AMC 79:

"This ski is meant to be challenged. Go ahead, show it a snow condition and see what it can handle. it has a wider waist than the rest of the series, providing more stability in the fluffy stuff. it also provides the longest turn radius of the group (18m/170cm) which helps you take the skis anywhere you want to go. A Carbon fiber/wood/titanium (3D chassis) constuction creates incredible stability underfoot. "Big, fast-motoring GS love." reports the Tester's Take from Skiing Magazine."

Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee. This ski rails the groomers and floats in powder. Spending the day on hard pack? Loosen the center screw on the binding system and slide the binding up. Playing in the powder? Slide them back for more tip float. East or West, this is the right choice for a mid fat. Light weight but still able to rip crud and cut up powder. It is the perfect ski to complement my RX8"s. Quiver complete!

AMC 79, a great ski

I really like these skis. Super light and great in most all conditions.
If I could only have one pair of skis these would be them.
I ski hard and you can GS these on the groomers and ski them hard and fast in the crud and float in the powder.
Fantastic.

In my opinion this ski need to be tested by testing the 3 positions of the binding bolt ( fischer bindings: fs10,fs11,fs12, fsx12).

In the center hole this ski is as described in the test, fast, permisive, steadfast, great hold edge, fast in edge changing... the tail is "unelastic" as described, but it performes well in every condition: allmountain

Front position (+15mm): makes the ski elastic and funny, almost as elastic as my previous atomic C:9īs, easier to enter in the turn and much more easy to carve, less steadfast and less permisive the tail rails the hardpack (this is not very funny when in deep snow).... The ski performs as a race-carver ski: the nice choice for spending the day on groomed slopes.

Rear Position (-15mm): makes the tip float in the powder , and the rear body position helps to lift the tails...today I could spend the day skiing in the powder and it was the easiest ever.

I bought them some time ago, and I was doubting in the beginning until I discovered the "magic bolt" and the 3 different behaviours: 3 skis in one: very recommended for advanced skiers ( not the funniest ski for intermediates, but since it is permisive... :) ).

I am 30 Y.O., 85kg, 1m80cm, Ski tested: 2008model, 170cm.

From Skiing:
A great medium- to short-turner that flows from edge to edge—the AMC’s forgiving feel and solid edge hold made it a hit with our testers.
Props:
Keep it on edge and it feels like an expert ski. Back off and it won’t bite you.
Gripes:
The tail might be a bit stiff for lazy skiers; you need to power through the end of your turns.
Testers' Take:
"Le performance is steadfast and true at higher speeds." —Jake Bogoch
