K2 Mach GS Race (2005)

A fabulous ski which does not perform in anyway like it looks.  Very much inch perfect performance and encourages a relaxed style whilst still remaining technically correct.

Ski-Review's Verdict:

K2s entire line this year has been rewritten physically from the ground up, and having skied the pick last week – something which was very risky to do has been successful – apart from certain visual choices…

Great initiation on turning, lots of confidence inspiring feedback, and the piston system on the bindings really gets the ski to bite and whip through the turn.  The Mach GS Race is a ski which can give you the confidence and the ski persona of a full blown pro racer – who I would imagine echo the sentiments on just how good this ski is – race stock or not.

Even though it’s a GS ski and therefore slightly longer, it’s very stable in a straight-line over the groom and anything else.

GS turns are as expected - exceptionally smooth, elegant.  It will however, do short turns without flapping, but require lots of effort in getting the ski to flex to do so and will tire you out relatively quickly if you have the technique and stamina to do so.

Torsion wise very stiff, and holds a line like dirt to an army blanket!

Conclusion?

A very able, smooth and inspiring ski which combined with the rest of the range will hopefully help K2 to recoup a little more of the market share this year.
