The Mojo 90 plow through crud and heavy stuff. Very stable and stiff. Very stiff..

Mojo 90 better than Monster iM88
Written by Ski Review Guest on 2006-12-08 16:59:26

I bought a pair of Monster 88 in 175 cm length but when I tried them out I didn´t like them at all. The same day I tried my friends Mojo 90´s in 186 and they outperformed the Monsters both in hardpack and in 30 cm soft snow. Easier to turn, more stable and better feeling. Surprising but a fact. I sold the Monsters and got a pair of Mojo´s instead.. Maybe the Monsters was too much ski for me..?

Anyone have an opinion on these? I previously had Rossi Scratch FS, but want something a bit stiffer for charging and fatter in powder. I have ridden Public Enemies and didn't like them, think the Mojo 90s could be the ones. I am 5'10" and 80 kilos. Will they be too stiff for my weight and too stiff for park? Bumps? Do they only respond at high speed??

I've got some Mojo 90's at 176cm. Pretty damp and fun ski. great on groomers, surprisingly decent in moguls, too short and too much tail for me in powder. 186's might work better in pow. I'm 5'10, 145 lbs.

Rad skis. I love them. Great plowing through the chopped up stuff and surprisingly fast and stable on firm groomers.

Not used as they should be...

I bought them in 193. I was dreaming about a freestyle ski that would be a proper size for me (I'm 1.95m), and over several years I try to get them, every time they're out of order. This year I managed to get a pair, so I mounted them 3cm forward to make them a bit more centered in spins and switch riding. Basically the Mojo 90 is a freeride ski, but its shape was the closest to a freestyle ski compared to other brands' BC skis, so I chose it for my experimentation.
The result is not bad at all. It carves really well even if it's 90mm wide, and the new big tail brings tons of pop, it's really playful. The problem is that compared to a proper freestyle ski it's a razor, and it has a lot less forgiveness! So when you land flat it's perfect, but when you didn't finish your spin or you land a bit on your back, it's like pushing on the "eject" button!
All in all I'm really happy of this choice, and it just obliges me to land properly, I'm a bit more anxious when trying a new trick though.

moguls?

Anyone taken these through moguls? How are they edge to edge?
