A staff favorite last year, thankfully unchanged (O K, the graphics changed) and those that were lucky enough to get a pair will surely continue on them through another winter.
Model: Dynastar Speed Course (2008) Size(cm) / Radius(m): 178/17 Sidecut: 112-67-98 Manufacturer's Description of the Dynastar Speed Course: "The absolute weapon for all skiers looking for performance and perfection when carving fast, wide turns on hardpack. The power of a Giant slalom ski, with an enhanced side cut for added enjoyment in and out of the race course." Ski-Review's Verdict: Comments from several testers . . . . . Last year the Course garnered a huge share of rave reviews. Thankfully, its still above the rest. The Speed Course is some of the most fun on any ski EVER. The Autodrive Flex plate from Dynastar's World Cup skis, delivers excellent power transmission and feedback, making the Spped Course seem to ask for more from the skier. The 17 meter radius (at 178cm) while not legal for FIS candidates, is perfect for All Mountain cruising at blistering speeds but doesn't restrict the skis ability to make some pretty nice shorter arcs. This is the definitive “Club Racer” ski, and that’s been proven by the previous version. They’re fast and they don’t drift out of the turn, even at “hair on fire” speed. One of the BEST, if not the best. This is one ski that does a lot of things very well, as long as the pilot has the ability and the “cajones.” Take them to a big, steep, icy mountain and ski them as hard and fast as you can. You’ll renew some of your passion for our sport. By the way, they love Snowbird, Utah and they handle anything and everything. Get on a pair and take them to some “double diamonds.” Bring your "Skill-set" and a helmet.

I try not to be influenced by the top sheets, but I really loved the blue/red combo of the previous seasons Speed range from Dynastar - maybe this look will have to grow on me! Personally I cannot get enough of Dynastar's Speed tools - both this and the Omeglass - so glad to hear it has not changed significantly or been replaced! Roll on the season! | So much Fun Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-12-31 06:28:57
Wow. I have been trying to find the right ski for several years now to get that feeling I had before the shaped ski revolution hit. This ski is it. The Speed Course is full of confidence and wants to go fast. It will not let you down, pulling hard into the turns at full speed. This is what skiing should be. Forget about all those "All Mountain" skis that do nothing well, you're a real skier. Make sure you have lots of room in front and don't plan on making too many turns, you are going to be moving. Seek out the line that takes you down a dip to gain even more speed, then cut your turn hard forcing your body way down as you are smiling ear to ear living the dream of your own GS speed run. Yeaaaahhhhh! | Head Speed Course Written by Ski Review Guest on 2008-04-28 12:12:52
Just got back from Tignes, gave up my old Atomic Beta Race 9.28 and got the Head Speed Course. Mile better than anything else I tried. Smile a minute and lively. Some of the latest carvers are a bit bovine but these are GREAT. | |
