Great all mountain ski! Written by Ski Review Guest on 2008-10-28 06:13:26
I have spent decades skiing and have been on dozens of brands and styles. I am 6'9 260 lbs and can handle the steeps well and the jumps. To me these skis are the cats meow! We need more skis for big guys to pick from! That is a know fact but until these company’s can come up with skis made for big guys these Outlaws are the one. They perform great on all conditions even on the hard crud. They turn great for a fat ski and float in the powder fairly well. These skis have been marked “a heavier ski” but if your thighs are in good shape it will be no problem what so ever. I also instruct on these skis and at the end of the day my legs are not worn out. The main point is that they perform on the whole mountain in all conditions and by buying these skis you will not be disappointed. |
Rock'n'Roll Written by Ski Review Guest on 2009-01-02 03:12:21
These are a great pair of all-mountain skis. In the trees, they are rather agile and turn remarkably quick for a fatty ski. Not as stiff and physically demanding as, say the Volkl Unlimited, but still a ski for people who like to rip it. Holds edge well on groomers at high speed, although not extensively tested in these conditions. On moguls (tested here at Mary Jane CO, mogul capital of the US): I was surprised at how quick to turn the ski was and that it didn't feel excessively hard. These skis like to go fast and like aggressive skiers, although will act docile when not pushed hard. Overall, a great ski, originally way overpriced, bit now (Jan '09) a great deal in the 500-600 price range. P.S. Powder performance: couldn't really tell, since I tend to err on the dark side on powder days (snowboard). |
Bad Bad Warranty - Only 12 months Written by Ski Review Guest on 2009-02-01 09:16:52
When the bindings on my Apache Outlaws started to fail, I returned them to my local dealer who sent them into the K2 rep in Seattle, WA who said they were only warrantied for ONE YEAR from date of purchase. This was for the factory installed binding system. Only one year is ridiculous. It is a flaw in the systme. Buyer beware. One Year? Get Real! |
K2 Fails to Stand Behind Product Written by Ski Review Guest on 2009-04-01 02:03:45
I purchased the 07'-08' model of the Outlaw last season. This brand new ski performed great and I always 'talked up' the ski as a versatile free-ride ski for expert skiers. A down payment was placed for the ski on Dec. 1, 2007 as my receipt indicated. I took posession of the skis at the end of December 07'. On March 1, 2009 the entire cap on the front of one of the skis totally de-laminated. Provided with this information; K2 has stuck to there strict policy of a 1 year warranty and will not discuss the matter. I am no longer a fan of a manufacturer that cannot fabricate an $800 ski that will not last more than 14 months (half of those months the ski was in storage during the summer months) Booo! |
too bad such a great ski falls apart... Written by Ski Review Guest on 2009-08-21 04:52:01
i have skied these all over the place for three years with a herniated sidewall and outside edge that changes shape every time i ski it. the injury happened on a 30" day at alpine meadows and i didn't notice until the end of the day when i took a look at my bases. the interesting thing is that the ski still performs beautifully with said injury. of course k2 won't warranty. going back to volkl. |
