Quite simply, unbelievable! In all honesty this was the first time I had skiied anything from Dynastar other than anything form the Speed range. I am addicted to the edge hold in that range so I was not expecting the Intuitiv 74 to offer much, especially with their half and half demenour. How totally and utterly wrong I was!
Model: Dynastar Intuitiv 74 Size(cm) / Radius(m): 167/16 175/18 182/19 188/21 193/22 Sidecut: 113-74-99
Manufacturer's Description:
"Intermediate through expert adverture skiers who love power, natural terrain and cruisers."
Ski-Review's Verdict:
Visually, the whole range of Dynastar skis has had a well deserved overhaul in the past few years, and the Intuitiv range is no exception. Twinned with the orange offerings from Look, the result makes the Intuitiv package a very nice looking piece of kit.
The Intuitiv 74 is penned as a ski that can handle the steep snow covered off piste, as well as happily carve up the piste. In actual fact the Intuitiv 74 rips up the whole mountain, dismissing powder with consumate ease thanks to the V shaped 'Hull' design of the tip, flicking you off the bumps with a huge grin on your face and even managing to hold its grip on the piste. You really have to think about carving on these to really feel the forces working on your body, but if you do you are rewarded. The inclusion of the Autodrive system has helped in leaps and bounds on piste, meaning you are more than aware of when you are in the middle of the turn and when you are finishing it.
Conclusion?
A real work horse which is being seen more and more on in the lift queues, and understandably so. The Intuitiv 74 will happily take most of what even the 'expert' skier will throw at it, only being a few steps short of fully 'pushing the envelope' in every category. You can forgive them for this though, as a ski which excels in every area of the mountain would truly be the holy grail.
If you ski every inch of the mountain and are not concerned about an average performance on piste (do not get me wrong, all I am saying is that they will not perform like a slalom ski with a turning radius of 10 metres) pick up a pair of these today!

Intuitiv 71, 74 and Naxo Written by Ski Review Guest on 2005-04-17 17:24:55
After reading hudreds reviews I decided to buy Intuitiv 74. Unfortunately (after reading other rewiews) I bought Naxo (NX01) bindings (the ulitimate freeride bindings, presumably). The problem is (noone mentioned it in any review) Intuitiv 74 (because of its plate) accept only Look bindings. I did check with 71 and this is almost the same story (the plate is not Looks-only, but nevertheless does not work with Naxos). Moreover in the Legend series the only ski which is somehow similair to 74/71 has a plate. The same plate as in Intuitiv 71. So again: doesn't work with my naxos... Any ideas (except get rid of naxos)? | Intuitiv 71, 74 and Naxo Written by Ski Review Guest on 2005-04-17 20:33:28

These skis are the best I've ever had. My home mountain is Whiteface NY. These bad boys handle the steeps, ice, bumps, trees, hardpack anything the mountain can throw at it. I also took them to A-Basin and they LOVED the deep snow. If you want one ski that does everything, this is it. | Intuitiv 71, 74 Written by Ski Review Guest on 2005-11-28 21:04:33
Got the 71 as a rental one time and absolutely loved them. Decide to get the 74 w/Look p10, and they are simply awesome.
| SOLID!! Written by Ski Review Guest on 2006-02-14 21:08:09
I have taken these skis through all kinds of terrain, steeps, hard pack, trees, crud, and powder - they are simply put - SOLID - if there is one possible weakness it might be that they are bit clumsy in the bumps, which means that they might not be as fluid through the moguls, but they still perform well for an all-mountain set of skis in the bumps. From Mammoth, CA to Whistler BC and Vail, CO they have handled it all. They have been beaten up a bit over the past couple of years, but they repair well and keep on going! I put a P12 binding and Lange Boots on my set and I truly believe it makes a big difference in feel and response. Again, SOLID, VERY SOLID! | re: naxo's Written by Ski Review Guest on 2006-04-10 01:47:00
keep the naxo's - get another ski!!! The intuitiv 74 is heavy and slow turning. Great if you're tucking GS turns, but not great for dancing through trees in the BC after a long climb... get a rossi b3/b4 or Salomon 1080 Gun and you'll be happier on your tours... | Great ski! I went from my old Heads to this ski and wow! I mostly ski groomers but some times head into the crud or even the woods and these skis do it all. The best part is in the crud the edges done get "caught up" and turns are much easier in crud then with my old Heads. Just be certain you are a decent skier and can "phantom turn" or else your legs will get tired since they have some weight to them. My friend tried them out and this is what happened to him, but again, he forces his turns rather than letting the ski turn in its own time. | If you can still find it buy it NOW Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-09-13 20:58:24
The Intuitiv 74 is one of the best skis ever made. Its versatility is simply amazing. I can ski any turn shape, and even does a passable job at hyper-carving. It handles crud and chop very well and you'd swear it was an 80mm ski in the powder. It's almost as good in variable conditions as my (much) wider Bandit XXX's (also a classic) at 92mm. The first time I took it in boot deep powder I would have sworn I was on my fat skis. The only two gripes I have is that it requires a bit more forward pressure on the tip and it's a bit of work in the moguls, though by no means terrible. Quick edge to edge, good carving skills, great crud handling, great in the trees, solid in the pow. This ski does it all. A true jack-of-all-trades and yet still a master of all of them. Please don't ever let them wear out! | Intutive 74 Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-10-27 13:37:16
I've skied the 74's a couple of times as demo's. They are the best ski I've ever skied. Wish I had bought a pair, now I'm looking for a pair. Does anyone know where I can buy a pair? | Wow - Did I Get Lucky Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-11-14 04:55:24
Bought these 4 years ago. I using research everything to death but I don't remember reading too much on these, just found an awesome deal on E-bay was what sold me. I bought them because I had a terrible time on some Ros Bandit X's in the deep crud (to narrow of a ski for that and heavy). My previous skis were even worse in the powder. I figured I needed more than one pair of skis for different conditions. Not so. It was like night and day when I got on these Dynastars compared to my previous skis. I'm Advanced (when my legs are in shape, otherwise Adv-Intermediate) and I never know who I will be skiing with, my crazy buddies going off-piste or cruising with my wife let alone the highly varying conditions in Washington state. The diversity of the skis is a gift from heaven. They have made skiing fun for me again. I never thought ski design could make that big of a difference. | Very happy Written by Ski Review Guest on 2007-12-26 03:19:07
I've had the Intuitiv 74's for 3 seasons along with the Look P12 bindings. This is an excellent all around ski. The skis are a bit heavy for someone who wants to perform EXTREMElyfast, sharp turns. The ski is perfect for me since I like to carve at mid to high speeds. | Great all around skis? Written by Ski Review Guest on 2008-01-15 07:04:00
After doing some research I found a good deal on the discontinued 74s with P10 bindings. For me - intermediate/advance - they are a revelation pretty much handling more than I can give them. Great fun! | super skis Written by Ski Review Guest on 2008-02-06 20:34:32
Well - picked up a pair of these with the look pivot 10 bindings for £50 ($100). Used last week in La Rosiere - delighted with them, and cheaper than renting. Won't be buying new skis for many years I think! | 4 years and still going Written by Ski Review Guest on 2008-09-20 01:04:34
I've had these with P14's for four years and I still feel good about them. Great edge control, and give you back as much as you put in. I would bring a fatter pair of skis for a real powder day though. | |
