Manufacturer's Description

Like the former Century 109, this ski is most at home in the deep. Also features new HRZN Tech for epic powder play.

We’ve built the Atomic Backland FR W 109 ski for women skiers who rip in powder. It’s the top ski in our new range of freeride powder chargers – successors to the popular Century range. It looks amazing, but more importantly, it feels amazing. With a Light Woodcore, fat 109 waist, revolutionary HRZN Tech and Powder Rocker in tip and tail for awesome floatation, the Backland FR W 109 is most at home when it’s waist deep. That said, it’s also seriously versatile with a Carbon Backbone, pronounced camber underfoot and Step Down Sidewall 2.0, making it super stable on hard terrain. Mount some Tracker bindings and MultiFit Powder Rocker Skins on this low-weight powder wonder and it becomes an amazing Freeride Touring ski, too.

Ski Review: I got these skis as my first touring setup in fall of 2017 and mounted G3 ions on them. This ski is the pow touring ski you don’t realize you need until you have it. Very responsive ski, floats amazing in pow and is light. This ski is darn fun in the resort on pow days too and still holds an edge decently well on groomers. I got this setup not realizing that a 109 is probably a bit too wide for volcano skiing (which is what I un-intentionally used it most for) but it gets the job done. My only regret with this ski is not getting it longer in the 175 as the rocker profile dramatically shortens the effective edge compared to the 102. If you’re not using this ski for touring, a more forward mounting point wouldn’t hurt.
