Manufacturer's Description

The Blackeye Ti, featuring a modest 82 mm waist width, combines smoothness on piste with sufficient lift in soft snow. The Step Down Sidewall and combination of wood core and titanium ensure superb stability and unrivalled performance. Thanks to the Adaptive Camber, the Blackeye Ti boasts good shovel lift in virgin snow and uncomplicated handling where the skis are flat on the slope. At the same time it delivers the entire effective edge length when set on edge, providing optimum edge grip.

I just bought a pair of the Blackeye Ti skis to replace my last pair which I have skied on for 12 years now. I was looking for an all-maintain ski that was capable of taking me into some powder. I am 180lbs and 6’4ā€ tall and ended up getting the 181 length.

On my first trip with these skis (Alyeska ski resort in Girdwood, Alaska) I got to try them out in a variety of conditions ranging from hard groomed and icy trails to well tracked snow and even fresh powder. I was blown away by the performance of the skis in the powder which was over 3 feet deep. They floated very nicely over the soft snow and were very controllable (a tremendous improvement over my old skis). On the well tracked snow they also did great, I was expecting to have to work very hard to get through the ungrounded snow; however, it was not at all an issue. The groomed trails were a bit icy on the day that I went skiing and the snow was actually not so nice on this part of the mountain. I experienced a little bit of skipping while making sharp turns, but my friend was also having the same issue on a different pair of skis and said it was not normal, therefore I’m convinced it was the snow conditions on the groomed trails rather than the skis themselves. I must also mention that these skis were very fast on the groomed trails and I thought that the control on these skis was great. There might have been a little bit of chatter on the skis at high speeds, but nowhere near enough to personally annoy me. Compared to my old skis these are a little heavier; however, they are so much wider and have a lot more surface area that overall I am impressed by the weight; I did not notice them being heavy at all as I was skiing. Compared to other skis out on the market today I would have to say that the weight is about average.

I am without a doubt 100% satisfied with purchasing these skis and would buy them again without hesitation. They performed better than I expected them to. Everyone has a different idea of what they want, but for someone looking for a good all mountain skis that is capable of having some fun in soft fresh powder, I would definitely recommend looking into the Atomic Blackeye Ti skis.

Ski Review: Purchased these as a replacement for 2008 Blackeyes.  These float better yet hold a stronger arc on the groom.  Good crud busters in spring snow at Crystal Mt. I tend to view skis like golf clubs and I switch throughout the season or day depending on conditions.  If I had to take only one set these would be the I would take.
