Atomic Race GS 9 (2007)

I Purchased a pair of 170’s at the start of the season. The GS 9 is verstaile and fun, although did not really blow me away with capability to go Mach Snell speeds(may just need lots of repeated waxing with high flouro wax to get rolling better). Its sort of a Slalom carver with a GS flex.

For NASTAR, I would recommend the 180cm in this ski if you are a bigger person.

I also purchased some LT:11 FIS 183 cms. Now those are pure bomber, rock steady and know no speed limits. The LT’s are much more capable at high speeds.

First off, I should mention that I fall into an unusual category of skier.  I raced from childhood through college, and spent 6 years as a race coach.  But since I started just skiing for fun last year (06/07), I decided to get a pair of racy, but not full-blown “race”, skis. 

These boards are fantastic!  No, they aren’t as fast as my old FIS legal GS skis, but they aren’t supposed to be.  Much easier to turn, but still obviously race-inspired.  Just fun as hell being on 170s instead of 181s (I’m 6’3” and 180lbs).  I take them everwhere.  They’re way better on absolutly everying, including groomed.  All they ask is that you don’t go as fast as you possibly can, since they do get unstable at very high speeds.

All in all, these were the perfect skis for me; I’ll be keeping them for at least another season or two.  Maybe I’ll finally buy a pair of dedicated powder skis this year, to compliment these carvers.
