Elan Magfire 82 XTi (2009)

Demo’d the 82x Magfires this weekend, found it to be a good carver and performed well on hardpack/ice and uneven/cruddy snow.  Very heavy though, not so quick edge to edge and really made you work hard to extract good performance.  A heavier, more powerful skiier might enjoy this better. 

The best all mountain ski I have ever skied. OK OK I know that is a bold statement to make but it’s true. (If your a strong heavy skier) these things rock. Groomed, powder, crud, mush, ice any other word you could think of for snow, it does it effortlessly. Sure footed in all conditions and a fantastic flex to boot, thanks to the waveflex technology. If you get a chance to demo these skis do so then after the first run go back to the pro shop and hand over your credit card. Forget the grief your wife gives you for buying a new pair of skis, the feeling you will have when your skiing down the hill at mach 1 with your hair on fire will surely help you to forget.
