I’m a big fan of Zag (ride the Heli Gold and Freeride 75), but didn’t get on fantastically with the Big. It’s fine in the powder and groomers, but doesn’t have the welly to power through the crud and doesn’t have good grip on the hard ice. Overall, it’s a bit on the soft side for me. Particularly when the Heli Gold overcomes most of that and maintains the piste performance. This is a shame seeing as how the first Zag I every skied was the original big with its effortless carving. Still a fantastic ski, but not a category killer. Try it out and see it you like it.

It’s perfectly competent and has a lot of the Zag attributes, but it’s on the soft side for me and a bit prone to chatter on the hard stuff.

Perfectly fine off piste and in the crud.
