Icelantic Skis 2011
Written by Dan Morgan, Saturday, 15 May 2010Two new skis from the Colorado based ski maker for 2011, and as with previous seasons, the art work and finish on these skis means our photos really do not do them any justice whatsoever. Aside from graphics, no changes to the incumbent five skis from the previous season - and you’ll still wince every time you are in a busy lift queue.
Icelantic’s new The Keeper is a very well fed powder ski with rockered tip and tail, and regular camber underfoot. The Oracle is a ladies model big fat ski, with a rockered tip and regular tail.

Bought a pair of Icelandic Keepers 189 this year. Skied them for 5 days in 6-14 inches of snow and powder at 4 different western resorts. Loved them. Would not use them for hardpack or icy conditions as the tail has a tendency to slide. You need to have loose snow underfoot to enjoy them. My wife couldn’t stand it that I was skiing so effortlessly in deep snow. Made my trip.

I tried a pair of Shaman’s (173) for a few runs last week…. quite an interesting experience. They were so easy to turn in piles of soft snow on piste that you didn’t know it wasn’t fresh groomed, and off piste was just so easy. The power seems to transfer from the middle of the feet. Remarkably for such a wide ski, they carved pretty well too. If you are looking for a ski designed primarily for powder these are well worth your consideration. Purely on piste my Head 180 ic’s (163) still thrill more, but for mixed conditions and powder, these are great.
