Manufacturer’s Description of the Armada JP vs. Julien:

"The original backcountry jumping/jib specific ski from the Armada quiver enters its junior year. The JP vs. Julien Signature Model is the ultimate tool for those who want to elevate their backcountry jumping/jibbing game. No doubt this model opened a lot of eyes this past fall as Tanner Hall attacked Chad’s Gap with these under his feet. Little has changed with this model, due to the overwhelming response from Armada team riders, dealers, and customers. The most significant change to the JP vs. Julien is the addition of a 178cm. JP and Julien designed this model with little sidecut and camber and a wide waist which allows the skier to stomp landings and makes it easier to control while skiing switch into backcountry booters; not to mention the ski’s width is ideal for traditional powder skiing. The tip radius remains progressive providing extra float in powder, while the tail sits 10mm higher then the tip for those wanting to land, or ski, switch in deep snow. Did we mention this is quite possibly the lightest fat ski on the market? Pick it up, you¹ll know what we are talking about."

This awesome ski is made for backcountry jumping and jibbing.  These skis are pretty fat at 103 underfoot and are great in powder.  Supposed to be a light ski for its size and comes in a smaller size 178 in this skis 3rd year.  As all armada it has some sick graphics.

This ski is very light and is made for the BC. It has a higher tail than tip for optimal switch riding.

To me this JP vs Julien is the best freestyle backountry ski ever. It’s really built like a freestyle ski, well centered, well balanced, a good pop, etc… The only difference with a freestyle ski is the width in fact. No need 130 under feet, i’m 1m95 for 85kg and it’s almost impossible to push its nose under snow. The long tail is pretty efficient, swith riding and landing is very easy. For pure freeride sure it doesn’t cut like a real freeride ski, but it slides and it’s a lot funnier to me ! It’s quite easy on piste, snow must be soft though… Of courser it’s a lot less accurate than a narrower ski, it’s just not made for that. After a lot of FSBC skis tried, i must say it’s the first i feel like if i was with a freestyle ski in a park when i’m in the backcountry.

I bought these skis at the beggining of the year and was not sure if i would like them.  however, they are simply the ultimate for backcountry jumping.  the only thing is that they are basically built not to turn, so carving is not effortless.
