I demoed these skis at Okemo last winter, and just bought a new pair this season for only $300 w/bindings.  Due to horrible conditions I haven’t had a chance to use them yet.  The ski shop guy recommended the 7:5 for any intermediate to advanced intermediate.  The 9:7 is an expert ski.  Remember Its easier for an expert skier to ski an advanced ski than an advanced skier to use an expert ski.

Does anybody ski with these skis, and do you like them? Are they good for a strong intermediate skier or should a strong intermediate go with the Izor 9:7’s?

I’m a strong intermediate skier and i just bought a new pair of these skis.  I have only had the chance to use them once, but they responded very well and kept control down all of the slopes.

I have never skied the 7.5’s, I own a pair of 9.7’s. I can say that I am an advanced skier and borderline expert, but these skis are by no means for experts only. They are without a doubt as responsive as I would ever need them to be, but are also easy to ski on. They are by no means are beyond the control ability of an advanced skier. To tell you the truth, if you’re looking to jump to the next level, this is the 9:7 is the exact ski to do it on. Extremely fun!

i just bought brand new 7.5’s for this season and they are awesome! great all around ski. very fast on the groomed trails and very smooth in the glades. went to stratton last week and was in the glades for about 50% of the day and they worked great. also i got my ski’s brand new with bindings for $300 (they’re originally $7-800) off of ebay express. great skis, highly recommend for stronger intermediates!!

Have had them for a year now and I am very happy.  They carve nicely and are plenty fast for me.  They had no problem on double black diamonds at Sunday River, Me, and because they are so light they work very well in moguls.  One thing that has amazed me is that they grip on bulletproof ice, no slippage at all.  I tried a pair of Metron M10’s recentlyand although they were more stable at speed they felt heavy in the short turns and moguls in comparison to the Izors.  The only complaint I have is the lack of tip protectors.  My tips are getting a bit ratty from my less than stellar mogul runs. The majority of my skiing is on East Coast hard pack/ice

Picked up the 7.5’s for less than $300 on eBay over the summer. Late June or July seems to be the sweet spot as far as price. First time out this year and I was already doing the double diamonds that I usually save for later in the year. These skis just “felt right” from the very 1st run. Very little effort needed to turn and they are light, so they are easily skied all day. Highly recommended for advanced intermediate skiers.

I’ve had Izor 9:7m for a year and the skis are amazing - so light you feel terrible switching to other heavier skis. The difference is like driving a car instead of a tram on the rails. Very maneuverable.

Also, I’m sure they will be great even for a beginner. Beside Atomic positioning them in the expert category, there is no reason for a beginner not to feel comfortable with these skis.

I’m surprised Atomic discontinued Izor line last year…

Honestly it’s just an okay ski.  I also own a pair of 2001 Elan Diablo’s which put these Izor’s to shame.  To me the Izor doesn’t fell as confident in hard turns as I would like.  Perhaps this is due to the shorter length or my aggressive style.  At 6 feet 210 punds I should have ignored the guy at the ski shop and purchased the 177’s vice the 168’s.  Definately not an expert ski in my opinion.  The Izor 9:7 is a great ski for a casual intermediate skier.

I have owned a pair of Atomic Izors 7:5 168, and I would say they are a good reliable, dependable ski for beginners to borderline advanced. These skis prefer long radius turns, I found on short radius turns they were harder to ski with. Take me through any conditions though and consistent control all the way down the mountain. Great ski for someone looking it to buying there first set and for the intermidiate skiers.

I bought these skis back in 2008 as my first set, and they have been faithful to me ever since.  I’m a big guy, 6’2, 280lbs and they run just fine, very responsive to everything I do, and are all around great for me.  I’m an advanced skier, and probably should’ve bought the 9.7’s, but I’m happy with the 7.5’s for now.
