Manufacturer's Description

The new Panic is an agile twin which knows virtually no bounds on the mountain. Its Adaptive Camber construction allows turns to be carved more easily and the Step Down Sidewall L2 construction provides optimum edge grip in all snow conditions. With a waist width of 87 mm, moderate usage off-piste is characterized by sufficient lift in soft snow.

Ski Review: The Atomic Panic features include Adaptive Camber, Step-Down Sidewall, Tip Rocker, and a Full Wood Core. On my first ride on the Panic, I found the flapping of the long rise tip to be disconcerting, but this was only an issue when running straight and flat on groomed snow. Once you commit to a turn, it feels like the entire length of the ski hooks up to give you a nice, smooth turn. That could be the “Adaptive Camber” at work. Atomic got the flex of the tail just about perfect. There is enough pop in short turns to keep things interesting, but it’s not so stiff that you feel locked into the turn. The Panic is very easy to toss around. Compared to the Dynastar Sixth Sense Distorter, another twin-tip with an 87mm waist, I would say the Panic is more lively. Where the Distorter feels stable and sure-footed, the Panic is more active, almost eager. It normally takes me a few trips to the mountain to get to know a new set of skis, but not with the Panic. On my first day with the new skis, I did two runs to warm up, and then it was “pedal to the metal”. These things really want to rip. The Atomic Panic is a nice all-round twin tip ski, highly recommended.
