Hugely successful in America and Europe but for some reason it seems Dynastar did not push this ski so much in Europe.
I actually bought a pair of these late last season - good late deal and there is only so much praise of a ski you can listen to before it becomes tempting. I had run out of fingers and toes counting how many people had told me how good the Dynastar Little Big Fat was. I needed a replacement for my Dynastar Candides anyway…
Dynastar’s Little Big Fat is a twin-tip ski equipped with that cunning bow that was engineered onto the fronts of the soon-to-be-late Intuitiv range. Great when you take these boys out back into the powder - or you are lucky enough to come across some, and even handle crud like they are twice as big. If you are like me and are not extraordinarily heavy or tall then the Little Big Fat’s will be a breath of fresh air in the stuff you float in.
Not a ‘true’ twin as the tip geometry at the front is much more exaggerated than the rear but it means you have the option of taking these skis to the park. If you are like me and enjoy the park but are not likely to be seen spending all day there then this type of setup is ideal.
The Titanal laminate layer is billed as avoiding the usual pat-a-cake with the snow when pushing high speeds, but this is not amazingly apparent in reality although as I mention I am not exactly the worlds heaviest skier so this could be quite effective under a larger frame.
Point to note about these skis - Do not make the mistake I did and buy the skis and bindings separately only to discover that you cannot get hold of an extra wide snow brake in the UK for love nor money—Although close, the standard brakes on last years Look P14s just will not fit…
Conclusion?
Extremely versatile and a good example that you don’t need a ski for every occasion. With an open mind you will never have a dull day on the Little Big Fats.
