Dynastar Speed Course 2007 Ski Review

Real skis with real performance. "If its not broke." Okay, it’s an overused cliché, but this ski did not need changing or "re-inventing".

Manufacturer’s Description of the Dynastar Speed Course:

"The absolute weapon for all skiers looking for performance and perfection when carving fast, wide turns on hardpack. The power of a Giant slalom ski, with an enhanced side cut for added enjoyment in and out of the race course."

Ski-Review’s Verdict:

A staff and test team favourite last year, and those that were lucky enough to get a pair will surely continue on them through another winter.

The Course 67 is some of the most fun on any ski EVER. The Autodrive Flex plate from Dynastar’s World Cup skis, delivers excellent power transmission and feedback, making the Course 67 seem to ask for more from the skier. Working the whole ski from tip to tail will reward you with even more FUN.

The radius while not legal for FIS candidates, is perfect for all mountain cruising at blistering speeds but doesn’t restrict the skis ability to make some pretty nice shorter arcs.

If there is a better ski out there, this tester has not found it. But before you jump on them, consider that mistakes will not be tolerated and good technique is a prerequisite. But consider that your last pair of skis may have allowed or even promoted lazy or sloppy technique, so your first arcs may humble a few skiers into taking a refresher course.  Hey…the best in the World still have a coach. Don’t think of it as a lesson. Its just a software upgrade and an edging clinic.

A best pick for sure! And its stacked up against the Atomic SX12 in the Atomic review section.

I bought a pair of these skis at the end of last season, and they’re easily the best that I have ever skied on, super fast, super grip but super demanding. You get out what you put in, be warned that if you don’t put in everything you could be in for a nasty shock; these skis will not tolerate lazy legs at the end of a day. A must try (if not buy) for any serious piste skier.

How is this ski off the groomers?

Took 2 runs to get used to, amazing after that. Edgy, fast and excellent response to your moves. Tried them in 20cm of ungroomed fresh powder as well - they worked surprisingly well.

We’re off to Utah to test more of next year’s gear, and 2 of us are taking our own Course 67s with us, so when the smoke and mirrors fade, we can sneak off and enjoy a truly great ski, with no one trying to tell us that their skis are better. From what we’ve tested so far for 2008, the Course 67 still rocks, and for those who really care . . . . . ONLY the graphics are changed for next year. It doesn’t look like a race ski in 08 . . . .  so maybe less will be stolen by the steaming piles of rancid placenta who prefer to deprive others of their treasured toys.

Hey . . . . . how about the death penalty for Ski thieves? We could just groom them into the hill. Death by Piston Bully :-}  No angry left wing replies please. Its a joke !

I bought a pair almost at the end of the season last year. I live in Kitzbuehel and I am lucky enough to ski pretty much every day. I have been putting the SC67 through some serious testing and they are absolutely great skis. They deliver extremely reliable handling on any kind of packed snow at any speed, but they are also good performers in fresh ungroomed powder. A perfect ski, in my opinion.

Did anyone tried the 165/15 lenght? I rented the 172/17 last week end, i found them perfect for those conditions and different tracks.
