Manufacturer’s Description of the K2 Apache Chief:

"The Chief is built primarily for powder and softer snow conditions in the backcountry. However, maximum surface area for flotation and a moderate side cut makes the Chief more versatile than it may appear. 98mm underfoot combined with a light weight wood core gives the Chief an exceptionally easy swing weight making it simple to navigate in heavier snow conditions."

Great ski I guide on these. And they are stable at speed, good short and long radius turns. Not to mention durable. Mine have seen 160 days and still very lively. http://www.stellarheliskiing.com

Used these babies in Niseko and Furano. Tried a few other Powder Ski’s and the group I skiied with were all unanimous, these were best by a mile. Look out though on-piste, they aren’t too flash, but in the tree’s and in the back country they rock!

I have skied on my 188cm chiefs for the past two years at Monashee Powder in Canada..they are terrific in all backcountry conditions but work especially well on steep and deep terrain…very quick edge to edge for a long ski and lively where you get pop our of each turn…most everyone in Canada is skiing on rockered ski’s and swiveling their turns,  I am going to keep carving on my chiefs!!

I own the mis-marked “2006” pair with rosi bindings, 167.  Same cut as this; just marked as narrower than it actually was.  (marked 118-98-108; measures 131-98-116)

Used a $200 vernier caliper I bought when working @ a machine shop.  After seeing the mis-marking online.  The 2006 was black and silver with flames.

I ride this all over W Montana and N Idaho like a Caddy in 20” dry fluff powder AND like a hot butter knife on April 15th boilerplate freeze-over steeps.

Gonna demo something a hair longer this year.  But this cut is the best powder/“everything else” ski I’ve ever been on!  Super light, flexible, powder-floating, and predictable.  Cuts ice like a 94 Vokel! (If Sharp!)

Actually means a lot (mentally) to us Montana, USA mofos that folks in Canasia and Europa ski these versatile flexible sticks.  That is like an AK endorsement with Vermont creds?
