"The Outlaw is designed to ride off piste and primarily in softer snow conditions. Versatility and agility are strengths of the Outlaw, provided by the unique progressive sidecut design. More sidecut in the shovel and less at the tail provides the Outlaw with the perfect balance of turn initiating sidecut with all the softer snow benefits of width underfoot. With Titan Technology, MOD Monic, and the new M1 integrated binding system, the ‘06 Outlaw is completely redesigned for maximum all-mountain performance."

The K2 Apache Outlaw has a very solid stable feel and can cut through pretty much anything with confidence. Overall great ski!

i ripped on these bad boys at mad river glen over this past weekend.

they kick ass on all terrain.  the side cut makes quick turns on ice easy and on anyting else they are super responsive.

width makes for a noticably stable ride, also very good for glade skiing which mad river is known for.

A++

I just bought these and skied with them for several weekends at Waterville Valley in Spring Conditions. They are fantastic in the afternoon when the crud gets deep, and they hold fine on the hard glazed patches in between. These conditions are much more enjoyable and less tiring thanks to these wonderful skis.

These are stable and heavy feeling, and never upset by anything. They carve well and blast right over or through the crud piles—but don’t try to hop around, just stay planted!

I am a 160 pound 5’ 10” expert and on the 167cm Outlaw. I ski Double Blacks, Blacks and Blues.

skied these all last year in all conditions.  very stable in crud and windpack at speed.  relatively nimble for their weight in the steeps, but cumbersome in the bumps. i am 5’10 165 on the 181 outlaw.

I’m 6’1”, 175lbs and fall into the expert category. Not an extreme skier by any means, but I like to go fast and ski lots of different terrain. This review is for the 06/07 ski with integrated piston bindings. Heard the only ‘08 change was graphics. Demo’d 167cm, bought 174cm.  They do everything well.  Good float in the powder, turn well in trees and bumps, and plowed through the crud. The 167s bounced around a little in the crud at speed, hence why I bought the 174.  Now they excell in crud.  Did loose a little agility in the bumps, but they are still very managable.  My Volkl Mantras (176cm) get bounced around a lot in the crud.  Also greater on west-coast groomers and ice…hold an edge on ice very well, which I didn’t expect, and are great on groomers too. Granted your not going to be dragging your shoulder in turns like you can with those “Dolly Parton” shaped skis.  But if you like to do GS turns, these do that very well. I haven’t found the speed limit on them yet. If you want a ski that does it all and can handle speed, this would be one of my first choices. The only way you’ll get much better performance is to go to single-purpose skis and carry a quiver full of skis.

I had these for several days at Vail in December.  I’m a 6’1 145lb expert who had these in 167 and 174cm.  This is one of my favorite skis ever as it not only handles but excels in all of the conditions I could find at the largest ski resort in the United States, including six of its ten bowls.  Because I skied a shorter length I was able to toss around and jump with this fairly substantial ski, making the cliffs and trees, like those under lift 11, great fun.  The conditions were variable and all of the heavy, crusty stuff was no problem and when it snowed, even an inch or two or powder became a joy?these are floaty (in a good way) on even small amounts of powder and stay up in the deep stuff

Perhaps this is partially due to my weight, but I tried my friend’s high end demo race skis and found the Outlaws bit better on ice!

All in all, this is my favorite ski I’ve skied recently as its long list of strengths helped me become more confident and able to tackle literally any condition?and therefore a better skier who has more fun.

Mostly?  I don’t like them on the front side (which you need to ski some of…). Great stable ski in crud, float well in powder, plenty quick in trees, but when the gang wants to do some cruisers, they are like jack-hammers when you really put the pressure on them in a hard turn. Bap-bap-bap and my knees and teeth are hurtin!.  I’m light at 145 and 5’9” and ski them at 174, all over Colorado. Compare them to my rondenee set-up (Fischer Kehua at 177cm): K2’s are much heavier and chatter too much when on edge. I’m selling these and may try the AC40’s.
