Great ski. The only downside is they can break easily. They hold and edge easily and are stiff and snappy. I’ve improved alot since i got racetigers.

Make sure to have a backup pair of skis since you will be needing repairs on these, Volkl is always good about sending a new pair within a couple weeks. They delaminate quickly but are a nice ski and I wont ski on anything else GS or slalom. They are a nice stiff ski that make a nice turn shape. Keep them sharpened and you will be a gold medalist.

Within 2 months of my daughter getting her Volkl SL Racetiger Jr’s, the top sheet peeled like a banana on both inside and outside edges of BOTH skis.  Volkl did not make good on their warranty.  Said she banged them together on the inside edges.  ...and what about the outside edges??  It is my opinion that Volkl makes crap race skis and do not honor warranties.  She skis Atomic SL 12’s now.

WOW!  Your story is the same as mine!  Volkl did not make good on the warranty on my son’s skis either.  They said it was the skier hitting the edges together that caused the damage.  We were angry and switched him to Fischer.  Funny…he has had no problems with these!  We have friends who’s kids ski Atomic and no problem with them either.  Thumbs down for Volkl and the way they treat customers.

Good skis, I’ve raced on them for five years now and they do everything I want them to, carve fast and hard on a flatter turn but float around a gate on the steeps.  Lots of snap, they just fire you out of a turn if you stay forward and step on them.  I’ve never in five years had a problem with damage past a couple nicks in the bases from typical use.  Best skis I’ve ever used, 10/10.

Maybe I can shed some light on this issue.  The Volkl SL’s that “peel” up on the top edges under the topsheet are the Jr. skis in the 136cm and smaller sizes.  This is becuase Volkl does not have the second layer of metal under the top sheet in these sizes.  It would make the ski too stiff for young racers.  The 143cm and above, as well as the adult skis are fine as the second metal layer prevents this from happening.  Yes there is a problem, but it is only with the 136cm and below…and yes, Volkl will tell you to “go stick it” on a warranty claim.

Yes, they do delaminate because of their foam core but I’ve been sent back a new pair every time.

I ski competitively and during the first year of use me and three other members of my team had their volkl skis begin to break and delaminate on us. And although this was an inconvenience our coach talked to the volkl reps and we all got the newest models within a week. Despite them being so fragile I love the performance they deliver and won’t ski on anything else. Even my park skis are volkl.
