Atomic Introduces Electronic Binding Management - Neox EBM
Written by Dan Morgan, Sunday, 14 March 2004Bindings are often under judged in ski selection but Atomics latest offerings are set to help level the playing field.
Introducing the Neox EBM from Atomic; Electronic Binding Management!
Launched alongside the standard Neox, the EMS constantly monitors your binding as soon as you step in. You will instantly be told whether your bindings are properly closed, have the correct forward pressure and if they need any maintenance.
In order to communicate this to the skier, a small LCD panel is mounted on the toe piece. Wireless technology to transfer the required data around the binding and the LCD comes at a price however, and this is 80 days of skiing before the battery runs out. However, 80 days a season should suffice to all but the most die hard skier. If and when it does run out, you will need to pop along to an authorized Atomic dealer for a change.
This binding builds on the standard non electrical Neox, also new for 2004/2005. Big news here is that the Neox will constantly adjust itself to keep the boot centered in the binding. This not only happens when active on the slopes, but over time to allow for boot toe and heel piece wear.
