Pure Demo Days #2

All in all, Pure Demo Days 3 2006 made 103 pairs of skis available to those who took part.  That’s almost one metric tonne!

Brands supporting the event with equipment this year were (in no particular order)

Elan
Scott
Nordica
Salomon
Liberty
Line
Dynastar
Movement
Stockli
Head

A tonne of skis to test is a rather daunting task, but we slowly chipped away through the selection slowly over 2 weeks, aided by the help of 47 people who came on the trip. Abilities ranged from novice to expert, ages from 6 to 60 in addition to a mix of old school, new school, and plain crazy styles.

All skiers taking part were asked to give feedback (as comprehensive as abilities allowed) on all the skis tested.

As with any and all ski tests, the feedback revealed some obvious flyers and some stinkers, but the one clear view was that Winter 2006/2007 is shaping up to be a fun one.

For the first time, Pure Demo Days 3 was run over two weeks and in two different resorts.

Week one saw us waxing our skis in the French resort of Les Arcs.  From our base in Vallandry, we were slap bang in the heart of the Paradiski area, a perfect setting for any ski test with Les Arc 1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000 separated from the various resorts of La Plagne by the Ponthurin Valley.  In this setting, all types of terrain where covered. Despite a late Easter, we were blessed with plenty of sun and fresh snow.

Week two was in Tignes, part of the L’Espace Killy ski area. Tignes offered us quiet pistes, some fresh track days, sun.  Sadly, the sun was occasionally blighted with some misty weather, but nothing could lighten the mood.

All skis reviewed will be appearing across our pages over the coming weeks, so watch this space.

Bring on Pure Demo Days 4!

Ski-Review.com would like to thank all the manufacturers above who took part in the test.

Thanks are also due to holiday partner Sound Skis, MoMountains, not forgetting Scott UK for providing goggles, poles and helmets, Aloeup UK for providing sun block (which thankfully was sorely needed), Helly Hansen, Surfanic, and Vans for providing jackets and pants.
