Salomon Overhaul cont. - Equipe
Written by Dan Morgan, Saturday, 10 April 2004While Salomon have been busy filling what many would term gaps in the range, the SC & RC semi-established additions to the Equipe range only add width to an already established footprint line.
In what seems to be becoming a slight trend nowadays, Salomon have updated the Equipe 10 SC Pilot and the Equipe 10 RC pilot as siblings to the hugely successful Equipe 10 3V and Equipe 10 2V slalom and giant slalom skis respectively.
Described as the Sport Coupe model of the race line, the Equipe SC falls outside of FIS regulations (though not in the waist – its up to a full 13mm wider the in the shovel than the 3V) and essentially provides a Slalom experience to the more advanced skier who does not care for the rules and regulations of racing – therefore pushing the boundaries of performance just that little bit more.
How these compare fundamentally to the top end of the StreetRacer line this year will be very interesting as the dimensions are more or less identical for the SC model. Stiffer - but by how much?
Pilot, Spaceframe and Autocarve are all present and on paper the only thing that seems to let it down are the graphics which can be described as bland at best – something Salomon are normally renowned for never hearing about skis in their range.
