Thanks to NEWSR & EWSRA, Supporters of our Passion
Written by Brian Babcock, Monday, 14 February 2005The recent introduction of next year’s crop at Stratton Mountain, Vermont will always be a pleasant memory. This year’s demo was "THE BEST".
After 2 year’s at Killington, we are back at Stratton, and thanks to Maureen Bliss and Eileen Donnellan of NEWSR and Linda Irvin, Executive Director of EWSRA, this premier demo is the one to attend. These ladies and their respective teams, co-ordinate the 3 day event for over 2000 attendees from all facets of our industry, including Reps & Retailers, and somehow do it with smiles and logistical skills that would impress even Donald Trump.
In a brief interview on the final day of demo activity, I enjoyed some time with Maureen, the Director of New England Winter Sports Reps Association (NEWSR).
Maureen, Eileen (her project manager) Linda, and interns from a Ski Industry course at the University of Maine, could teach the world’s best Air Traffic Controllers a thing or two. They somehow get every Ski, Snowboard and Binding Company set up, on snow in less than 2 acres of space, all with lift access and good visibility. (trucks and trailers get stuck, making it even more difficult as more vehicles attempt to set up) This challenge continues well into the night on the Monday preceding the Demo event.
Picking up my "Press" credentials from Eileen on Monday evening went so smoothly, it erased the trials of the 8 hour drive. With all the paperwork organized, and a bevy of Laptops burning the evening oil, efficiency was the order of the entire procedure.
A sincere "Thank you" is the sentiment of this note. To Maureen, Eileen, Linda and their entire crew, we wish nothing but continued success and happiness. With the shows soon behind you for another year we also wish you some well deserved "down time."
Hope you enjoyed the Truffles!
Brian
There will be a LOT more material from this Demo including ski evaluations, but these Ladies and their team, deserve all the praise and "thanks" we can muster.
