Manufacturer's Description
Successor to the Century 102, this is an easy-going ski that rips in powder but also performs on the hard pack.
The Atomic Backland FR 102 is an easy-going powder ski that’s also versatile enough to deliver top performance on hard pack. Backland FR 102 W is the thinner model of our two new freeride powder chargers for women – successors to the popular Century range. With a Light Woodcore and Powder Rocker in tip and tail for awesome floatation, it’s a great lightweight powder piece that looks as good as it feels. It’s also seriously versatile – the Step Down Sidewall 2.0, pronounced camber underfoot, and a wide 102mm waist mean it handles the groomers no problem. Add Tracker bindings and MultiFit Powder Rocker Skins and you’ve got a superb Freeride Touring ski.

Ski Review: Ski Review: This ski was a game changer for me when I first got on it in spring of 2017. Transitioning from the Atomic Century 102 in a 156 (2012?) to the Backland FR W 102 was the perfect step in progression. The rocker profile is excellent for holding an edge on groomers and handles off-piste and soft snow decently. the partial twin tip is great upgrade for being able to ski switch. But there did come a point when I plateaued in skill on this ski. This ski is pretty chattery in hard-pack and at speed off-piste. I could not part ways with this ski so I recommissioned it as a backcountry setup this year and threw come G3 Zeds on them. I feel that they are better suited as a backcountry ski given how light they are and can’t recommend them enough for this!
