Could someone post if they tried these skis because I’m considering buying them.

Thanks

Tried these a few weeks ago. If you are an aggressive skier looking for a buzz and fast riding then these are for you. You need to put effort in to get the best out of them. They are a beast, give em an inch and they’ll have you, keep them tamed and they will leave you exhilarated and breathless. If you are looking for ski’s to just cruise the piste then I would go for one of the lesser tuned models such as the SX B5.

Surely the SX B5 is the more tuned model being top of the list of Supercross skis?!

Brisol Mountain in NY state has a demo centre, you can try any ski made.

I am looking for a new set of skis and just found it frustrating listening to salespeople telling me different things about the same ski.

So I figured the best way to find out what ski was best for me, was to take the drive to Bristol Mountain.

The second ski I tried was the Atomic SX 12.  The Best way to discribe it was Exhilarating!

It was like driving a porche! Quick response and total control, even skiing through powder than ice conditions.  It was the most fun I had skiing in a long time.

My 15 year old son was also tring different skis, without any influence from me, his pick was the Atomic SX 12’s, for the same reason.

You ski faster, with more control than ever before.

I enjoy taking short fast turns, these skis rose to the occasion.

I am now buying 2 pairs.

Bought a pair at the end of the season in Austria last year.  Huge fun to ski on.  Very stable at speed; in fact the faster you go the better they ski.  Edge to edge grip unfailing.  Need driving.  You get out what you put in.  I love ‘em!

i found it to be the ultimate cheater ski when it comes to beer league racing and other non-fis events. ever since i bought these skis i have done nothing but podium with more ease than on my gs12’s

Tried 176cm model. Even better than its “parents” @170cm. The only “bad” things in those were these: - A must. You have to buy them too. They are more solid than previous models -“SL 12” was maybe more fun at slower speeds

These are the best skis I have owned - without a doubt.

I broke my previous pair of atomics (SX-11) in half. Replaced them with the SX-12. These babies are wicked! only con is the carrying them around since they are on the heavy side. But this more than compensated by the directness of response in turning and speed achievable!

The bottom line is: these are race skis. They are demanding, they are not forgiving. They can do powder, mogul or quick turns but my impression is: they don’t like doing it. They really start to perform when you speed up on hard surface, then they are impeccable. But you have to be aggressive and to be in control. If you like that or you are looking for skis to race (giant slalom is probably the most appropriate) then its your ski!

I rented a pair of these as the skis I usually use are a friend’s and haven’t been sharpened in years. I should tell you I’ve only skied about 10 times but this didn’t stop me from hitting the double-black diamond slopes. Absolutely incredible. Yes they are a little heavy but they provide great stability and extraordinary grip on the well icy slopes. Definitely worth a try!

I couldn’t decide and have both on order.  I want to return one of them, still new in the package.  Which is better for the occasional bear race, and all mountain skiing for those non-powder days?  (flexible shovel but great torsional stiffness?)  I have the Atomic ST11, and the Dynastar 64 and love them both….

SO I have been racing on some Dynsastar ST 10 for my GS and I am gettign tired of it. Dont get me wrong, the Dynastars are great for Slalom and carving, but I need a stiff ski that is less forgiving and can really give me some speed and power without that tip slap. So I am 170 about 5’8 if that matters and really need something that can hold its edge and speed. Thanks for your comments.

I have SX11 from previous season when there were no 12 available and necessary to say is that these skis are definitely not for beginners and requires physical strength and good skills to get the best out of them. Recommended weight for them is 80Kg unless you do not want to have difficulties when skiing and also not to hurt your knees because they provide ultimate shape and riding features however they are “though hard”. I am always enjoying every single curve when skiing and other other people are starring at me and thinking how could I be so aggresive and so stable at once.

Can anyone suggest whether a 6’ 170 pound person should be on the 176 or 183?  I was on 180 SX11s but can’t tell which way to go.  Thanks. AA

Where can I purchase these skis?

I rented a 169cm pair of these a season past. I’m 6’3 and 230 pounds (I work out) and a reasonably advanced skier, though no pro. I found them incredible on ice and very stable in all conditions. I’ve never used a ski with more edge grip than these. Only downside is they are more effort to use all day, than say the SX11, as they really need to be pushed to get them to work properly, but as I have more muscle than my mates it’s no problem. My all time favourite ski.

Expanding on my previous review. I’m 6’3, +220 pounds medium advanced.

Conditions were soft in the afternoons turning to ice overnight.

I rented a set of B5 174cm the week after I’d had a set of SX12 169cm. They kept me stable and happy on icy steeps but they’re so rigid moguls were a complete non starter. These absolutely did not let me down on anything steep, icy, scary, soft or slushy, with seemingly limitless edge grip but they were starting to get really heavy at the end of the trip and all I could do is come straight down. FAST! A really great fun ski when pushed, and can make you look like a complete hero as they give you the confidence to fly down stuff you should be scared of, but heavy for an all day hack. All in all great ski’s but perhaps a little to aggressive for my 2 weeks a year.

On that note I found the SX12’s a bit more user friendly, being a bit more usable on the bumpy stuff, and still plenty of grip. Slightly easier at low speed than the B5 but still a very stable fast ski. Really nice, and one I’d consider a keeper.

I took SX11 162cm this trip as the rental shop didn’t have either of the other 2 in and was pleasantly surprised. Conditions were nicely granulated with some soft snow to slush on the lower slopes. Off the cuff I found them much easier to get ‘back in the saddle’ with than the other 2 and found them much easier to ski all day than either the others. The downside being I had much much less grip on ice and when pushing on down the world cup runs the first time I found a patch of ice and missed the corner all together. Once I adjusted to the less aggressive turns I got on with them just fine. Moguls were very much easier to deal with and general piste work was a lot less tiring. The only place these fell down compared to the others was when it started to get soft or slushy they just sank. All in all a really nice all rounder for a lazy day out with the Mrs.
