Fischer RC4 Worldcup SC Racing Plate 2004 Ski Review

Fisher is one of those brands you either love or hate. Cannot see why people hate when they produce skis like these. The Fischer RC4 SC remind me of my old Head Cyber XP100 Maxi Carves. These skis have life, mainly due to the radical shape, 123mm tip and 66mm waist. Insane! Quite simply, turning is not a choice anymore.

Manufacturer’s Description:

“A slalom carver direct from Team Fischer. With an awesome grip on ice. Developed for modern slalom techniques. A high-tech product with Direct Energy System, Frequency Tuning and AirCarbon Ti.”

Ski-Review’s Verdict:

With a total of 4 skis in this range, do not confuse this ski with the other Slalom models, this is the top of the range, direct from Team Fischer version.

The Fischer RC4 SC ski excels best when you ski with modern racing techniques.  Watch the pros on the TV and you will see what I mean; into the turn hard and fast and out the same way.

In a similar way to the Omeglass 64, if you are not careful these will take you skiing rather than the other way around, so in get a good night of sleep before playing with them.  As we are learning to expect from Fisher edge grip is superb, leaving grooves in ice like a pair of ice skates.

Conclusion?

Overall a handful but on the correct feet a worth while investment.

I need to decide between the Scream Limited’s and the Metron M:10’s.  I am an agressive intermediate skiier and ski on ice-hardpack snow.  thanks.

Take out a pair of Metron M-11’s. If you don’t race, and just want to have fun, The M-11’s are a blast! Best Metron that Atomic offers, even though it is not top of the Metron line. If you’re really into Salomon’s , before you buy, Try their slalom cut “Streetracer” They are fun too.

The SC’s are Fischers low fat slalom ski. The most aggressive slalom ski they produce is actually the worldcup SL, which are so stiff, grippy and exhausting that you can only really use them in race conditions.

I just bought and skied these in Argentina, in a variety of snow conditions. Configured with their original bindings. You better be ready for speed, power steering, control, grip, long curves… and a clear sense of unforgiveness. Real Race skis. It requires good and advanced technique and certainly will help to improve it even more. Level 8/9 and even 10. I tried them off-piste in a double diamond and I eat snow on the very first turn. Once you learn that you have to have better commitment on turn initiation, they respond well. I missed my Volkl Supersport at that moment. I couldn’t test them on powder yet. Conclusion: I loved them and they made me ski technique look better… and motivated me to improve my fitness otherwise they will ski me.

If these Fischer skis feel unforgiving can you de tune them? I mean de tune the tip and tail a bit to reduce the bite?

I am 5’8?, 150lb. Skis have very stable feel and great grip. Very versatile skis. They can be carved into any turn short-medium-long… I felt they are too short at 160. I would take at least. With 160 cm length the tails feel too dead. No spring, no rhythm. I can sit on tails all day long they are so stiff. But they give no surprises and never throw you, so if you like that get them. Perhaps I am too light for this skis (150lbs.). I felt it is a perfect ski for groomed slopes. Do not pay any attention to “slalom” markings on a ski. With average technique and good speed you can make any turns with very little effort. Superb hard pack grip ,but may be built for a heavier skier.

These skis are extremely demanding and if you aren’t on your A game they will toss you.  However, if you are a good skier with a lot of strength you will be hard pressed to find a better SL ski.  I love mine and wouldn’t trade them for anything.

The choice between the Atomic and the Fischer is one I looked at for quite a while but ended up going to the Fischer Worldcup SL r-tune. There is no point in buying the SC for racing as it just doesn’t give quite enough pop for my liking. If you can get your hands on the worldcup SL or GS in an r-tune (racestock) from the factory then that will be the best ski you’ll pick up for racing. I wouldn’t contemplate racing on anything except racestock, Atomic and Rossignol also do good racestock. The Atomic will be stiff and the Rossignol slightly softer.

I have skied the 2005 version for the full season. I tried them against virtually every other high end slalom ski. These are the best. You MUST know what you are doing with them, but you can nearly straight line the rec NATSAR courses, bashing gates without trying. If you lay them over on hard blue ice, and you have a decent tune dialed in (.75 and 3 angles), then hold on, cause these babies could hold an edge on a ceramic tile floor. Fabulous rebound energy. Incredible edging. Makes it look like I am skiing on soft snow when I am ripping icy steeps. Also, fabulous bump ski if you edge early, and push hard against the side of the turn. All in all, the best epxert ski I have been on. Makes me ski better.

I’ve been racing for 8 years and when I finally switched from my Atomic SL’s to these, it was night and day. Atomics are nice, but there’s something about the Fischer that make you wanna be a maniac, and they handle everything you throw at it. It’s a very stiff ski, and I’m sad to say that I wasn’t able to hit the sweet spot on them every turn like i was able to on the Atomics, but once you hit it, oh my god…there’s so much power in them. They put you exactly where you want them to be, but you’ll be working for it. That’s just the way I like it. And lastly, as an East coast racer, I love listening to people complaining about east coast ice…while I’m leaving nice clean tracks in ice. Thanks Fischer for the good time.

I have the 2004 Fischer RC4 World Cup SC with the Race stock base and race stock racing plate. This is the shortest ski in my collection and one of the oldest. I have a 155 and I am 5’10 140. This is a great ski, if you are up to par. I skied on these in Colorado for a day and holly leg burn. I love this ski. I have about 40 days on this ski. This ski will easily last 400 plus days if you keep them waxed and tuned. Great ski, makes you work for it but the rewards are worth it.
