Atomic Skis 2006
Written by Dan Morgan, Sunday, 02 October 2005The hi-tech skis that have taken World Champion Bode Miller to new heights since he switched to them this season have just been recognised as the most innovative product line in the snowsports industry.
Atomic, market leader in Alpine skis, took top honours at this week’s Snowport Industries of Great Britain Awards at Soltex 05 - winning the Innovation Award for its Izor 7.5 Nano Frame skis.
Judged on innovation, design, function, commercial potential and value for money, the Atomic Izor 7.5 swept aside competition from more than a dozen of the industry’s leading snowsport and freesport brands. Atomic’s Axum Snowboard took third place in the same award category.
Innovation and design continue to be at the forefront of Atomic’s success. The brand’s ability to embrace the latest Nano technology has enabled Atomic to move ahead of its rivals. The new Izor range frames incorporate nano-sized silicone oxide crystals that permeate the voids between fibres found on conventional skis.
This has lead to greater strength and flexibility to the skis, a success born out by the results of Miller and Hermann Maier, currently 4th in the world rankings. Miller has had six wins this season, besides his two gold medals in the Super-G and Downhill at the World Ski Championships in Bormio this month.
“Winning this award is great news for Atomic and our loyal customers,” said Jason Summerfield, Territory Sales Manager Atomic UK. “There were a lot of fantastic product innovations here this year and to win this award shows once again that Atomic is at the forefront of pioneering new technology,
“Not only was Atomic the most successful ski brand during the World Cup, but we remain extremely focused in maintaining Atomic as one of the leading recreational brands for all skiers of all abilities,” he added.
In addition to the extra strength and flexibility , the new Atomic frames provide the skier with three main benefits - varying torsion in the tip and the tail, direct edge control and distribution of longitudinal forces.
The Soltex exhibition brings together manufacturers, distributors and retailers with over 170 exhibitors and 500 leading brands on show.
