Rossignol Alias

We start with perhaps the most interesting new addition is the brand new Rossignol Alias. Rossignol have taken an all mountain ski not a million miles from the Zenith, and added subtly rockered tips and tail (what Rossignol brand “Amptek”) to give the Alias “Autoturn” technology. What does that mean? The Alias retains the Oversize sidecut common to the Zenith range but the early rising tips and tail mean medium energy carving and turning only happens on a shorter effective running edge of the ski removing the tips and tails from the equation and in theory providing more maneuverability and tolerance.

The skier is effectively skiing on a much shorter ski because the contact point for the snow is much closer to the skier both in front and behind. In powder the rockered tips and tail again make contact with the snow providing stability and float. In essence you have a ski with the grip and maneuverability of a short ski but stability at speed and in deeper, softer snow.

The Alias is effectively available in two skis, one with Carbon reinforcement and one without. Both have wood cores, cap & fiberglass construction bumper tips. Visually Rossignol simply seem to have extended the graphics from the Zenith range on the Alias. The Alias could really become an extremely popular ski for beginners through intermediates who want to ski it all. We’ll be testing the Alias on snow in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye for a review.

UPDATE Don’t quote us, but these skis will be selling for around 300 GBP, which is phenomenal value based on how they ski. We’ve taken the Alias for a spin - review posted soon.

I have bought a pair of alias skis & now done 2 ski holidays, they are great allround skis but if the piste slightly levels they almost stop dead & if you hit a bit of slush they do stop. In short if you buy these you wont have them long.

Having been heavily involved in nordic skiing for the past fifteen years my hours on fat boards were non existent. I went out for the first time on the ALIAS series skis at Kicking Horse and absolutely fell in love with alpine skiing again. One run and I felt confident. Outstanding edge control, nice in the soft stuff but a bit skiterish on the higher speed groomers. All in all…I hope I can buy them at the end of the season. For a new skier they are absolutely perfect! great job Rossi.
