Rossignol Skis 2011

Another new range for 2011 is the Strato line of dedicated piste skis. The Strato line bridges the gap between Rossignol’s Race/World Cup and Zenith All Mountain ranges. Oddly enough, Rossignol haven’t had a dedicated piste performance/carving/frontside range in recent memory, so the Strato brings some versatility even in what seems to be an ever more streamlined range of skis from the French ski brand.

The Strato comes in a choice of 4 models: the Strato 80 TLD Ti and Strato 70 TLD Ti are Titanal reinforced and differ mainly in the waist dimensions reflected in their name (124/80/112 and 124/70/112 respectively). The Strato 7 has a less agressive sidecut (120/70/100) and is available in a standard fibreglass structure or a lighter Limited Carbon reinforced model.

All of Rossignol’s Strato skis have classic rectangular sandwich construction with vertical walls, metal tips, Oversize dimension characteristics (carving sidecuts with wider waists underfoot).
What’s a ski without some pleasing eyecandy on top—visuals for the Strato comes courtesy of Troy Lee, the designer famous for motorsport helmet artwork, resulting in a quite a striking range.

I have bought a pair of alias skis & now done 2 ski holidays, they are great allround skis but if the piste slightly levels they almost stop dead & if you hit a bit of slush they do stop. In short if you buy these you wont have them long.

Having been heavily involved in nordic skiing for the past fifteen years my hours on fat boards were non existent. I went out for the first time on the ALIAS series skis at Kicking Horse and absolutely fell in love with alpine skiing again. One run and I felt confident. Outstanding edge control, nice in the soft stuff but a bit skiterish on the higher speed groomers. All in all…I hope I can buy them at the end of the season. For a new skier they are absolutely perfect! great job Rossi.
